The Melaka state government will proceed with its Aidilfitri Open House on March 28.

MELAKA: The Melaka state government will proceed with its Aidilfitri Open House on March 28 as planned, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

“The event would continue to be organised on the scheduled date to celebrate the festive occasion with the people,” he said when met by reporters at the Chief Minister’s Moreh event with the media at a restaurant here last night.

Previously, during the state government’s monthly assembly for March, he announced that this year’s celebration would carry the theme ‘Melaka Sayang Rakyat’ and would again be held at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC).

Earlier, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that ministries, agencies and government-linked companies (GLCs) would not hold Aidilfitri open house events this year as a cost-saving measure amid global economic uncertainties stemming from the conflict in West Asia.
