Muar-Tangkak-Segamat bypass on track for 2027 completion

Johor’s RM183 million bypass linking Muar, Tangkak, and Segamat is 72% complete and ahead of schedule for a February 2027 opening

MUAR: The RM183 million bypass project connecting the districts of Muar, Tangkak, and Segamat is on track for completion in February 2027.

Johor Works, Transport, Infrastructure and Communications Committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh (pic) said the project is currently slightly ahead of schedule.

He reported that physical progress had reached 72.19% as of March 2026.

“The project involves the construction of a new 8.1-kilometre road with four dual carriageway lanes, six signalised intersections and four bridges, including one crossing the North-South Expressway (PLUS),” he stated in a Facebook post.

He added that upgrading works along the route are progressing smoothly, actively and in an orderly manner.

The route also connects Tangkak Matriculation College to the Tangkak Industrial Area with no major issues affecting overall progress.

Key construction works are being carried out simultaneously across the site.

These include bridge construction, earthworks and road paving.

The project will also be equipped with supporting facilities such as a drainage system, street lighting and utility relocation works.
