500 students in Padang Rengas received back-to-school assistance to ease family burdens, with aid targeted at low-income households.
PADANG RENGAS: A total of 500 students in the Padang Rengas parliamentary constituency have received RM50,000 in assistance under the Sumbangan Kasih MADANI: Back to School 2026 programme.
The aid aims to ease the financial burden on families ahead of the new school session.
Political secretary to the Finance Minister Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim said the recipients are students aged between seven and 18 from low-income families.

He stated that the Kuala Kangsar District Education Office selected the beneficiaries.
This initiative complements the more than RM800 million the government recently allocated for the Early Schooling Assistance (BAP) programme.
“I hope that the assistance would be utilised by parents to purchase essential school supplies for their children,” Muhammad Kamil told reporters after officiating the programme.
Recipient Che Normah Ahmad, 71, said the aid will be used to buy school necessities for her eight-year-old grandson.
Her grandson, Ahmad Iman Izz Qarish Abdullah, has been undergoing treatment for blood cancer since birth.
She said assistance programmes such as this are meaningful for families with children requiring special care.
Che Normah also hoped similar initiatives would continue to benefit more students from low-income households. – Bernama
