Paya Besar community centre nears completion, set for February opening

The RM5 million Paya Besar community centre is 94% complete, focusing on tech, humanity, innovation and sustainability for local students and institutions.

PAYA BESAR: The Paya Besar community centre has reached 94% completion and is expected to be fully ready by February.

The centre, developed at a cost of nearly RM5 million, is built on four main pillars: technology, humanity, innovation and sustainability.

Paya Besar MP Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah said the project integrates initiatives under a single theme called ‘Your Better Society 2040’.

“All the frameworks that we have developed must now be implemented so that the execution truly benefits the community,” he told reporters.

He spoke after officiating a back-to-school programme at the MARA Higher Skills College in Kuantan.

A total of 574 students from the hardcore poor B40 category received school supplies through the constituency’s initiative.

Mohd Shahar, who is also Deputy Minister of Economy, said the Gambang-based centre will benefit students and involve nearby higher education institutions.

“Paya Besar is home to various institutions of higher learning, and they are not merely beneficiaries but are directly involved,” he said.

The project aligns with the Paya Besar New Township Special Action Plan 2070.

Construction is funded by allocations from the Finance Ministry, parliamentary constituency funds and contributions from several government agencies.
