PBBIN, TMROVERS undertake humanitarian ops water rescue drill in Perak

KUALA LUMPUR: The Istana Negara Disaster Relief Team (PBBIN) with TM Reaching Out Volunteers (TMROVers) underwent Humanitarian Operations and Rapid Water Rescue Training at Kem Murni in Gopeng, Perak from Monday to Wednesday.

Istana Negara in an Instagram post today said the training involving 17 of its staff and 32 TMROVers was a collaboration with Yayasan TM, carried out by the strategic partner of the latter, RED A Humanitarian Development Global.

It also received support from the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) and the Civil Defence Force (APM).

“The training exposes PBBIN and TMROVers to the concept of humanitarian assistance, techniques and the right way to deal with torrential water during floods in addition to creating versatile humanitarian volunteers with solid knowledge of humanitarian operations,” according to the post.

Present at the closing ceremony of the training on Wednesday were Yayasan TM director Ainol Shaharin Saharl, RED A Humanitarian Development Global chief executive Azura Ibrahim and Perak APM deputy director Lieutenant Colonel (PA) Mohammad Azwani Kusnin.

Istana Negara and Yayasan TM established the collaboration in Dec 2021 after the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah mooted the PBBIN idea.

According to Istana Negara, more than 1,000 families have benefited from the missions that have been carried out, including post-flood assistance in Pahang, Kedah and Johor. – Bernama
