Azam Baki’s shareholding case to be reviewed by disciplinary board

The Public Service Department’s Disciplinary Board will soon review the investigation report on MACC chief Azam Baki’s shareholding issue.

PUTRAJAYA: The Public Service Department (JPA) Disciplinary Board will soon convene to review the report on the shareholding issue involving Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar confirmed he and the Prime Minister had received the report from the Special Investigation Committee.

He stated he had forwarded the report to the JPA for the board’s upcoming meeting. Shamsul Azri added the matter is also expected to be discussed in the Cabinet meeting.

The government established the special committee to investigate allegations against the MACC chief. This followed a Bloomberg report claiming Azam held millions of shares in a financial services company.

Azam has previously maintained that his RM800,000 shareholding was conducted transparently and followed all required procedures.
