Body of missing crew member found after Semporna boat collision

The body of a crew member missing since a boat collision near Semporna jetty has been found, ending a three-day search and rescue operation.

SEMPORNA: The body of a crew member missing after a collision between two passenger boats has been found in local waters.

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency’s Maritime Rescue Sub Centre (MRSC) stated the body of Rosman Kandau, 24, was discovered at 8.37am today.

Rescue teams located the victim in the waters of Kampung Terusan Baru, approximately 3.4 nautical miles southeast of the initial incident site.

Family members present at the location positively identified the body, according to the agency’s statement.

The discovery concludes the search and rescue operation for the missing man.

The collision occurred last Friday near the Semporna Tourist Jetty, leaving four other individuals injured.

Today marked the third day of the intensive search mission involving multiple agencies.

Assets from the maritime agency, police, military, and fire department participated in the operation.
