Flash floods on the North-South Expressway near Ipoh cause major traffic delays on key northern and southern routes during the evening commute.

KUALA LUMPUR: Flash floods have caused significant traffic delays on the North-South Expressway near Ipoh tonight.

The Malaysian Highway Authority confirmed the incident occurred at Kilometer 271.8, obstructing the left and emergency lanes of the southbound route.

Traffic is moving slowly from the Meru Toll to Ipoh Selatan in both directions. The northern stretch is also slow from Sungai Buloh to Rawang Selatan.

Increased traffic volume has been detected on the southern stretch from Nilai to Seremban since 4:00 pm. Slow traffic is also reported from Senai to Kulai and Sedenak.

Delays were additionally reported on the Penang Bridge from the Island towards Perai. The Juru to Seberang Jaya stretch is also experiencing slow traffic.

On the East Coast, traffic is expected to increase late tonight as commuters begin journeys home. Slow traffic has been detected from Bukit Tinggi to Bentong.

An accident at Kilometer 71.5 from Karak to Bentong has caused the temporary closure of the left and emergency lanes. Traffic flow within the Klang Valley is reportedly smoothing out.

Due to heavy rain, users are advised to exercise extra caution on wet roads and maintain a safe distance. Travelers are encouraged to plan journeys using the Travel Time Advisory via the MyPLUS-TTA app.

The latest traffic updates are available via the PLUSLine at 1-800-88-0000 or the LLM line at 1-800-88-7752.
