Flood evacuees in Pahang decrease to 194 people at five relief centres, as river levels in Pekan remain above the danger mark

KUANTAN: The number of flood victims in Pahang has decreased slightly, with 194 people from 58 families remaining at five relief centres this morning.

This is down from 218 people from 66 families recorded yesterday evening.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s Infobencana application, 129 people from 35 families are at the centre in Kampung Semangat Community Centre, Kuantan.

In Maran, 35 victims from six families are sheltering at the Kampung Baru Pertanian Community Centre.

A further 30 people from 17 families in Pekan are at three other centres.

These are Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah, Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Manis and Dewan Orang Ramai Air Hitam.

The infobanjir website reported the water level of the Pahang River at Paloh Hinai, Pekan, exceeded the danger level at 8am today.

Continuous heavy rains last week caused flooding in several districts, forcing over 13,000 people to evacuate.
