Dr Wan Azizah says the MADANI government is committed to holistic village development, ensuring progress in infrastructure, economy and well-being reaches rural communities.
SEPANG: The government aims to develop every village in the country to its best possible level. This encompasses improvements in basic infrastructure, the economy and public well-being.
Prime Minister’s wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said this reflects the commitment of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The goal is to ensure national development benefits rural communities alongside urban areas.
“The Prime Minister wants every village in Malaysia to be developed to the best possible level for grassroots communities,” she said when officiating the Kampung Angkat MADANI Carnival.
She stated that the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative is the government’s best step for effective village improvements. The programme aims to establish benchmarks for access to basic facilities.
These facilities include water, electricity, roads and telecommunications coverage. The initiative uses a whole-of-government approach.
Dr Wan Azizah stressed that digital and technological progress must not sideline basic village needs. She said children must enjoy every benefit of development.
“Our children must enjoy every benefit of development. That is why basic amenities must not be neglected, even as the country moves towards a digital economy,” she said.
She also reminded parents to monitor their children’s use of technology. This is to prevent exposure to negative influences like cyberbullying and immoral content.
The Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative was introduced under Budget 2024. The carnival was also attended by Deputy Housing Minister Datuk Aiman Athirah Mohd Sabu.
