Home minister Saifuddin Nasution stresses the importance of efficient and friendly immigration services as visitors’ first point of contact.
SEPANG: The experience at immigration counters forms visitors’ first impression of Malaysia, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He said efficient, friendly and effective service at these points of entry reflects the professionalism of the country’s civil service.
“This aspect must be given priority by the Malaysian Immigration Department,” he added.
He stressed that the immigration director-general plays a crucial role in ensuring all matters at the country’s gateway are conducted smoothly.
“If they have a bad experience, then they won’t have a good impression of the country,” Saifuddin said at an event at Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 1.
He shared positive feedback received from a recent foreign visitor regarding the entry process.
“Yesterday, I asked the visitor about it and that person replied that the process was smooth and well-coordinated,” he said.
“It feels good to hear such feedback.”
The event was also attended by senior officials from the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency and Oriental Kopi Holdings.
