Kelantan state government appreciates PM Anwar Ibrahim’s quick response to allocate funds for replacing the Lata Rek suspension bridge after collapse.
KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan state government has expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for his prompt action to replace a collapsed suspension bridge.
Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud thanked Anwar for swiftly directing the allocation of funds for the bridge’s immediate replacement. The bridge at Lata Rek in Kuala Krai collapsed during a wedding reception.
The incident left several members of the public injured and disrupted the daily commute of local residents. More than 50 guests fell into Sungai Chatel Damai when the structure gave way.
Mohd Nassuruddin said the state government has instructed the Kuala Krai District and Land Office to coordinate with the federal Implementation Coordination Unit. He stated the aim is to ensure replacement works are carried out promptly and in an orderly manner.
“The state government remains committed to working closely with the Federal Government to safeguard the welfare of the people,” he said in a statement. He added this cooperation is to ensure safe and functional public facilities are provided.
The Menteri Besar also conveyed his sympathy and concern to all those affected. He prayed for their swift recovery and for all matters to be resolved smoothly.
“I hope this issue can be resolved quickly through the close cooperation of all parties involved,” he said.
Mohd Nassuruddin also noted that the local assemblyman and MP have visited the site to assist the victims.
