KLIA Terminal 1 suffers water leakages during heavy storm

MAHB confirms water leakages at KLIA Terminal 1 due to heavy storm, with teams mobilised to ensure passenger safety and minimise disruption

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd confirmed storm-related water leakages affected several parts of KLIA Terminal 1 this afternoon.

Its engineering, operations, and safety teams have been mobilised to manage the situation, Bernama reported.

Passenger safety, containment efforts, and the protection of electrical systems are being prioritised.

“We are in close communication with our airline partners to minimise any operational impact,” MAHB said in a statement.

The airport operator added that extreme weather is expected to continue until 6 pm.

Enhanced monitoring measures are currently in place.

Earlier, a 26-second video clip showing a water leakage incident made its rounds on social media platforms.

The video was believed to have been recorded at the terminal’s departure hall.

Previously, several media reported that similar incidents occurred at Terminal 1 in July and December of last year.
