KPDN’s e-Aduan system simplifies consumer complaint process in Kelantan

Kelantan consumers can now lodge price complaints via WhatsApp or an app, with most cases resolved within 48 hours by KPDN enforcement officers

KOTA BHARU: Lodging complaints about product prices is no longer a complicated process for consumers, thanks to a new digital system.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry’s e-Aduan platform allows reports to be made via WhatsApp or the ezAdu app using photos and receipts.

Kelantan KPDN director Azman Ismail said this ease of reporting is crucial for a state with over 1.7 million people and only 142 enforcement officers.

He explained that complaints are recorded and channelled directly to officers for immediate action.

Initial action can be taken within four to five hours during working days, with most cases resolved within 48 hours.

“KPDN recorded 838 complaints in the first 10 months this year,“ Azman said.

He noted most involved prices exceeding controls, missing price tags, and deceptive food pricing.

Digital proof like receipts allows for on-site enforcement action, he added.

Consumer complaints also serve as early indicators, helping officers focus on high-risk cases without random checks.

Housewife Siti Farhana, 29, said the system saves time compared to previous office visits and form-filling.

“Now you just take a photo and send it in WhatsApp,“ she said.

Lorry driver Mohd Firdaus Ismail, 45, said swift action on violations positively impacts consumers and businesses.

“This makes businesses more disciplined and consumers protected,“ he stated.

Grocer Ahmad Zulkifli, 52, said fast enforcement based on digital complaints fosters fair competition.

“It helps us avoid competing with businesses that raise prices on purpose,“ he explained.
