The Department of Statistics Malaysia reported the highest quarterly revenue occurred in the second quarter at RM313.8 billion, before easing slightly to RM312.6 billion in the third quarter.
Chief Statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin stated that e-commerce drives business activities, widens market opportunities, and enhances Malaysia’s economic competitiveness.
Information and communication technology and e-commerce collectively accounted for 23.4% of the economy in 2024, valued at RM451.3 billion.
This expansion was driven by higher gross value added in the ICT industry, which rose to RM268.7 billion.
The Usage of ICT and E-Commerce by Establishments 2024 Report showed e-commerce income rising to RM1.18 trillion in 2023.
Manufacturing and services sectors led this expansion with RM587.3 billion and RM583.0 billion respectively.
Business-to-business transactions remained the largest contributor to e-commerce revenue at RM817.1 billion.
Business-to-consumer transactions increased to RM336.6 billion, while business-to-government transactions rose to RM30.4 billion.

B2B transactions remained the dominant expenditure component at RM443.4 billion.
Malaysia’s digital infrastructure strengthened with 49.2 million fixed and mobile broadband subscriptions in 2025.
The country achieved 98.8% 4G coverage and 82.4% 5G coverage nationwide.
Mohd Uzir said Malaysia is experiencing significant digital transformation driven by steady e-commerce growth.
“The rapid proliferation of mega-scale data centres, adoption of artificial intelligence, process automation, IoT integration, cloud services and enhanced cybersecurity further reinforce Malaysia’s digital ecosystem,” he added.
