The Education Ministry’s School in Hospital programme ensures children receiving treatment do not fall behind in their studies, with over 400,000 students having benefited
KUALA LUMPUR: The Ministry of Education is committed to ensuring hospitalised students do not miss out on their studies.
Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said the ministry is continuously striving to meet the needs of every segment of students, including those undergoing treatment.
To prevent these children from falling behind, the MOE collaborates with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education on the School in Hospital (SDH) programme.
Fadhlina said there are currently 20 SDH programmes operating nationwide.
More than 400,000 students have benefited since the initiative’s inception in 2011.
“Most recently, the SDH programme has been expanded to the Seberang Jaya Hospital, making it the first to be implemented in Penang,” she said in a Facebook post.
She added that these continuous efforts are also reflected in the Malaysia Education Plan 2026-2035.
The plan emphasises inclusive education and equitable access for all students.
