MOTAC revokes Al Aisy Travel & Tour licence over stranded pilgrims

MOTAC cancels Al Aisy Travel & Tour’s licence for failing to provide accommodation and return flights, leaving 36 umrah pilgrims stranded in Saudi Arabia

PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture has revoked the licence of Al Aisy Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd.

The revocation, effective March 31, was made under Section 8 of the Tourism Industry Act 1992.

MOTAC stated the company failed to secure pre-arranged accommodation and transport in Madinah as per its umrah package itinerary.

This neglect constituted a clear breach of its legal obligations and licence conditions.

“The company also deviated from the tour schedule and failed to provide return flight tickets for 36 pilgrims, leaving them stranded in Madinah, Saudi Arabia,” MOTAC said.

Its conduct was deemed detrimental to public interest, the tourism industry, and the national economy.

MOTAC said this created safety risks, financial hardship and disruption of worship for the pilgrims.

The incident also raised serious questions about the company’s credibility and eroded public trust in the tourism sector.

“MOTAC will not compromise on any breach of the law by licensed tourism operators,” the ministry said.

It reiterated its commitment to protecting the welfare and interests of the Malaysia MADANI people.
