Perhilitan confirms no tiger tracks in Proton City, Tanjong Malim, after a viral video, and warns of police action against fake wildlife content
IPOH: The Perak Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) has found no evidence of tiger presence in the Proton City residential area in Tanjong Malim.
This conclusion follows investigations into a viral video that claimed to feature tiger roars near a secondary school and housing area.
Perak Perhilitan director Yusoff Shariff said personnel dispatched to the location confirmed the video’s claims were unfounded.
He warned the department would not hesitate to lodge a police report against individuals who upload fake videos about wild animals.
“For us, matters like this should not occur and are not something to be treated as a joke,” Yusoff said when contacted.
He stated such actions cause public anxiety and disrupt official efforts to manage wildlife issues.
The 15-second video went viral on social media yesterday, prompting the investigation and monitoring operation.
Yusoff also advised the public to verify information from official sources before sharing wildlife-related content online. – Bernama
