PETALING JAYA: Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid of Amanah has invited members of the RXZ motorcycle community from across the country to gather in Shah Alam, following criticism by Melaka DAP over an RXZ Members Ride programme held in the state over last the weekend.
The invitation came after Melaka DAP chairman Khoo Poay Tiong said in a statement that the RXZ Members Ride programme had caused serious disruption to residents’ daily routines, public order and road safety, and described the group as a threat to peace and public security.
Responding to the remarks, Danial said he took note of the statement by the Melaka DAP leadership, which he described as “deeply embarrassing, stereotypical and reflective of a failure to understand the interests and culture of today’s youth”.
“Not all classic RXZ motorcycle enthusiasts are street thugs or troublemakers. Many of them are workers, entrepreneurs, mechanics and young people who see the RXZ as part of their identity, a hobby and a form of local automotive heritage,” Danial said in a statement uploaded on his Facebook page.
Danial said branding the entire RXZ Members community as a public nuisance was unfair and risked fuelling prejudice against young people who simply shared a common interest.
“I would like to invite RXZ Members from all over the country to come to Shah Alam. Here, we celebrate the interests of young people not with prejudice and sweeping accusations.”
The Amanah man also stressed that any issues involving illegal racing or violations of the law should be dealt with through proper enforcement against the individuals responsible, rather than condemning an entire community.
“Do not punish the whole community. That is the foundation of justice. What is important is measured enforcement, open dialogue and an educational approach, not inciting hatred against a community simply because their interests are different.
Young people are not the issue. Rigid thinking and prejudice are the real problems.”
