Tabung Haji ready for 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims in Madinah

Tabung Haji has deployed 152 staff in Madinah to welcome 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims for the 2026 haj season, with operations based at a new headquarters.

MADINAH: Tabung Haji (TH) personnel in Madinah are ready to welcome all 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims here for the 1447H/2026M haj season, said Malaysian Haj Vice Consul and Madinah Operations Director Affandi Abdullah.

He said TH has placed personnel in every zone to handle finance, counselling, health and customer service, among other things.

“Seventy-five staff members, including 40 welfare officers and 35 medical officers, arrived early in Madinah on April 12 to help ensure pilgrims’ movements run smoothly and efficiently,” he said here today.

He said TH has arranged three accommodation buildings for Malaysian pilgrims in Madinah, namely Emaar Royal Hotel, Anwar Al Madinah Movenpick and Emaar Elite Hotel.

“Emaar Elite Hotel is a new building, located about 150 metres from Masjid Nabawi, and will accommodate more than 6,800 pilgrims this year,” he said.

Affandi said TH’s Madinah headquarters is now operating from a new location at Zaha Taiba Hotel.

“Located close to Masjid Nabawi and equipped with modern facilities, including a more comfortable kitchen and restaurant, it is expected to improve operational efficiency.

“The TH headquarters brings together several key units, including the Madinah Operations Director’s Office, Medical Operations Office, Administration Unit, Operations Information Room, Allocation Unit, Handling Unit, Finance Unit and Haj Pilgrims’ Management Unit (PJH),” he said, noting that there are 152 haj staff in Madinah this year, out of about 564 staff in total for the season.

Yesterday, 925 pilgrims from the first three groups arrived at Prince Mohammad Abdulaziz International Airport in Madinah, while the final flight is scheduled for May 20, with Wukuf Day (9th of Zulhijjah) expected on Tuesday, May 26.
