Perak enforces a ban on selling single-use plastic bags from March 1, with a six-month adjustment period before strict action begins.
IPOH: The Perak government will take strict action against business operators found selling single-use plastic bags once the ban comes into effect on March 1.
State Science, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman Teh Kok Lim said a six-month trial period would be given to allow operators to adjust before local authorities begin enforcement.

“Once the directive is finalised, traders are prohibited from selling single-use plastic bags,” he announced at Aeon Big Falim.
Teh added that if necessary, traders should offer recycled bags instead.
He described the move as a necessary step to ensure environmental sustainability and reduce plastic pollution.
The state government had initially scheduled a full ban across Perak for January this year.
That ban was postponed to March 1 to give the public more time to prepare, as announced on March 20 last year. – Bernama
