Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim congratulates Malaysia’s sepak takraw squad after they clinched the inaugural quadrant title at the 2026 World Cup.

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim congratulated the national team on their victory as champions of the quadrant event at the 2026 Sepak Takraw World Cup yesterday.

In a Facebook post today, he said the success not only raised Malaysia on the world stage but also proved that our local athletes possess resilience, unity of purpose, and the ability to compete and achieve success at the international level.

“Well done, our national heroes. The fighting spirit you showed is a source of pride for all Malaysians. Congratulations,” he said.

Malaysia lifted the inaugural quadrant trophy after defeating India 2–0 in the 2026 Sepak Takraw World Cup final last night at Titiwangsa Stadium here.

The national squad, comprising Muhammad Afifuddin Mohd Razali, Muhammad Shahalril Aiman Halim, Amirul Zazwan Amir and Aidil Aiman Azwawi, received an added boost from the extraordinary support of some 3,000 spectators who packed the stadium, famously known as the Home of Sepak Takraw.
