Anwar praises Hajiji’s political maturity in forming new Sabah cabinet

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim commends Sabah’s new unity cabinet, highlighting political maturity and a commitment to joint development efforts

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor on forming the new Sabah Unity Cabinet.

The Prime Minister’s senior press secretary, Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, said the cabinet formation reflects political maturity, cohesion and a commitment to Sabah’s five-year development agenda.

“Close cooperation between the Sabah government and the federal government is vital in addressing various strategic issues,” he said in a briefing broadcast live on Anwar’s Facebook page.

He listed these issues as infrastructure development, service delivery, economic prosperity and the overall well-being of Sabah’s people.

The cohesion of the new cabinet is expected to further strengthen federal-state relations.

This will ensure the aspirations of Sabah’s people are achieved more effectively, he added.

“Insya-Allah, the federal government will continue to work closely with Sabah’s leadership in the MADANI spirit,” Tunku Nashrul stated.

He said this cooperation aims to ensure Sabah’s development is implemented comprehensively, inclusively and sustainably.

The Prime Minister will travel to Sabah tomorrow afternoon to attend the Sentuhan MADANI Bersama Rakyat Negeri Sabah event.

The event will be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).

Anwar will take the opportunity to meet Sabahans during the visit.

He is also scheduled to hold a meeting with the Chief Minister and members of the new Sabah Cabinet.

Hajiji announced his new Cabinet line-up last Monday.

It comprises seven assemblymen from Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).

The cabinet also includes one assemblyman each from UPKO, Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan.

The Hajiji-led GRS secured 29 of the 73 seats contested in the recent state election. – Bernama
