Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim will not rush to fill four cabinet posts, saying he needs more discussions before a minor reshuffle
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he will not rush to fill the four current vacancies in his cabinet.
Anwar stated he needs to discuss the matter with party leaders in the MADANI Government before making any final decisions.
The Prime Minister confirmed he has yet to consult Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and DAP leaders on the appointments.
“I’m thinking about it. I don’t rush, and of course, I need to reflect after listening. I have not discussed with all party leaders yet. Of course, the final decision is my prerogative,” he told reporters.
He was speaking after launching his latest book at Tsutaya Books in Pavilion Bukit Jalil.
When asked if the move constituted a full reshuffle, Anwar clarified it would involve “filling the gaps” leading to a minor reshuffle.
Responding to MCA’s call for Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek to be dropped, Anwar said it was merely the party’s suggestion.
“Thank you for MCA’s view, but it’s all right, as this is their opinion,” he said.
The vacant portfolios are the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives, and the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry. – Bernama
