BN candidate launches 10-point manifesto for Kinabatangan by-election

BN’s Mohd Kurniawan Naim pledges strategic council, financial transparency, and public transport in his 10-point manifesto for the Kinabatangan parliamentary seat

KINABATANGAN: Barisan Nasional candidate Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar (pic) has launched a 10-point manifesto for the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election.

The manifesto, posted on his official Facebook page, promises a Strategic Kinabatangan Development Council (MPSK) to plan and monitor development. It also pledges to appoint opposition representatives for checks and balances.

The Kinabatangan UMNO Youth chief vowed to present financial reports every six months. He also promised to establish a centre for collecting river and sea produce to boost fishermen’s income.

Other pledges include creating a public transport service for Kinabatangan and setting up the Yayasan Kinabatangan (Yakin) for educational, welfare, and emergency aid.

The manifesto further outlines plans to build a tourism and cultural hub and transform Polling District Centres (PDM) into youth-focused ‘Laman Stay Belia’.

It introduces a ‘Profit from Education’ programme and free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives. Free periodic health check-ups and free e-tuition are also promised.

“Today I do not come with sweet promises,” he said. “I come with a work plan that can be audited, monitored, and questioned by the people.”

He added that he may be young and new, but he believes sincerity with clear planning will defeat empty, repeated promises.

“I want Kinabatangan to move forward with work, not rhetoric. Take me to work, correct me if I stray, and judge me by the results,” he said.

The Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election is a three-cornered fight between Mohd Kurniawan Naim, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman (Warisan), and Goldam Hamid (Independent). The Lamag state seat by-election is a straight fight between Mohd Ismail Ayob (BN) and Mazliwati Abdul Malek (Warisan).

The by-elections were called following the death of incumbent MP Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin last December. The Election Commission has set Saturday as polling day for both contests.
