KINABATANGAN: Voter turnout in the Kinabatangan parliamentary by-election reached 50.37% by 3 pm today.
According to the Election Commission, a total of 24,322 voters had cast their ballots from the 48,282-strong electorate.
Of the three state constituencies within the parliamentary seat, Lamag recorded the highest turnout at 55.16%.
This was followed by Sukau with 51.27% and Kuamut with 46.02%.

A total of 36 polling centres with 117 streams opened simultaneously at 7.30 am for the dual by-elections.
The centres will close in stages until 5.30 pm to accommodate all voters.
The Kinabatangan parliamentary contest is a three-cornered fight.
The candidates are Mohd Kurniawan Naim Moktar of Barisan Nasional, Datuk Saddi Abdul Rahman of Warisan, and independent Goldam Hamid.
The Lamag state seat by-election is a straight fight between BN’s Mohd Ismail Ayob and Warisan’s Mazliwati Abdul Malek.
Both by-elections were triggered by the death of incumbent Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin on December 5 last year. – Bernama
