Perikatan Nasional Supreme Council approves seat allocations for Negeri Sembilan state election, with all candidates contesting under coalition logo.

SEREMBAN: The Perikatan Nasional (PN) Supreme Council has approved seat allocation arrangements for the 16th Negeri Sembilan state election involving the coalition’s component parties – PAS, Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan), Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Wawasan), and the Malaysian Indian People Party (MIPP).

PN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the council, which met for a special meeting today, also agreed that all PN candidates would contest under the coalition’s Perikatan Nasional logo.

“For the Negeri Sembilan state election, the participation of PN candidates, whose names will be announced today, aims to champion the people’s welfare, drive the state’s development agenda, and preserve harmony in Negeri Sembilan’s plural society as well as Malaysia as a whole,” he said in a statement.

Ahmad Samsuri also clarified that all preliminary discussions and engagements with other parties were conducted with his knowledge and approval as PN chairman.

He said the matter was subsequently deliberated on and endorsed by the PN Supreme Council at its special meeting today.

His statement came in response to Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who claimed that Bersatu was not involved in discussions on PN’s seat allocations for the state election, including matters relating to cooperation with Barisan Nasional (BN).

Muhyiddin said Bersatu had therefore decided to contest independently using its own party logo in the upcoming state election.
