PN leadership resignations signal coalition fragility, says Johor PKR Youth

Johor PKR Youth says resignations of Muhyiddin and Sahruddin from PN posts show a leadership crisis and internal instability within the coalition.

JOHOR BAHRU: Angkatan Muda Keadilan (AMK) Johor says the resignations of top Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders highlight the coalition’s fragile political direction.

Johor PKR Youth chief Faezuddin Puad stated the resignations of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as PN chairman and Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal as Johor PN chairman reflect a deepening leadership crisis.

“This shows the crisis afflicting PN at the national level has now spread to the state level,” he said in a statement on Monday.

Faezuddin said Dr Sahruddin’s resignation, as a former Johor Menteri Besar, “proves the fragility of trust among PN components.”

Earlier on Monday, Muhyiddin announced his resignation as PN chairman effective 1 January 2026.

This was followed by Dr Sahruddin stepping down as Johor PN chairman and Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali resigning as PN secretary-general.

Faezuddin argued Johor needs stable leadership focused on economic recovery, cost-of-living issues, and job creation.

“Politics that is continuously mired in internal conflict and power manoeuvring only adds to uncertainty,” he added.

He stated political stability is crucial for Johor to function as the nation’s economic growth engine.

This includes capitalising on opportunities like the Johor–Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

“Johor needs leadership that is focused on getting the work done, not leadership that is constantly in turmoil,” Faezuddin said.

He claimed PN’s internal crisis strengthens confidence in the MADANI Government’s “principled, united and stable leadership.”

Faezuddin also said Johor’s youth are increasingly mature in assessing leadership based on performance and integrity. – Bernama
