Sabah leaders champion unity and compassion this Christmas

Sabah’s leaders call for unity, compassion and harmony this Christmas, highlighting the state’s diversity as a strength for a prosperous future.

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s leaders have called on the people to uphold the values of love, unity and harmony in conjunction with Christmas celebrations.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the state’s diversity of faiths, ethnicities and cultures makes Christmas a vital platform to reinforce unity.

He urged everyone to embrace the spirit of compassion and generosity associated with the festive season.

“Strong unity among the people, coupled with political stability, forms the foundation of Sabah’s economic progress and investment growth,” he said in a statement.

Hajiji added his hope that the celebration would bring joy, peace and harmony to all homes and communities.

Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup said Christmas reflects universal humanitarian values.

“Christmas is not merely a religious celebration, but a reminder of humanity, love, hope and unity,” he stated.

He added that these values underpin the Malaysia MADANI vision and strengthen bonds within the Malaysian family.

Sabah Deputy Chief Minister III Datuk Ewon Benedick said the occasion promotes togetherness and strengthens community ties.

He said the values of love and care should guide efforts to enhance inter-community relations.

“I pray that this celebration will further strengthen our bonds as Sabahans,” Ewon said.
