MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in Melaka and parts of Johor until 2 pm today.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a thunderstorm, heavy rain and strong winds warning for two states.

The alert is valid until 2 pm today and covers the entire state of Melaka.

It also affects multiple districts in Johor, including Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Mersing, Pontian, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru.

MetMalaysia said the warning was issued due to signs of thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20 millimetres per hour.

Such weather conditions are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term alert valid for a period not exceeding six hours. – Bernama
