PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang states the party will continue to lead Perikatan Nasional, citing a Muktamar resolution, with a new chairman to be finalised soon.
MARANG: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party will continue to lead Perikatan Nasional (PN). He was responding to Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as coalition chairman on Jan 1.
Abdul Hadi cited a previous PAS Muktamar resolution mandating the party to helm the coalition. “That is the PAS Muktamar resolution for PAS to be the chair (of PN),” he told reporters after a lecture at Masjid Rusila.
Asked about Muhyiddin’s position, Abdul Hadi said there has been no decision on the matter. He added that PAS already has a candidate for the post.
The Marang MP also said PAS has yet to receive an invitation to an official PN meeting to discuss appointing a new chairman. He attributed the delay to administrative and management matters within the coalition.
Abdul Hadi said the issue is expected to be finalised within one to two weeks.
