Bahrain’s air defences have intercepted 215 drones and 129 missiles from Iran since late February, amid escalating regional conflict following US-Israel strikes.

ISTANBUL: The kingdom’s air defences have intercepted and destroyed 215 drones and 129 missiles launched from Iran since late last month.

The Bahrain Defence Force stated on Monday that it stands vigilant against the Iranian aggression launched against the country.

No details were provided regarding any potential injuries or damage caused by the Iranian attacks.

Regional escalation has intensified since the United States and Israel launched joint attacks on Iran on Feb 28, which have reportedly killed around 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Tehran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries, which it claims are aimed at “US military assets.”

Some of these retaliatory attacks have caused casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure, including airports, ports, and buildings.
