China suspends export ban on gallium, germanium, antimony to US

China suspends export ban on gallium, germanium, antimony and eases graphite export scrutiny to US until November 2026 amid trade tensions

BEIJING: China has suspended its ban on approving exports of dual-use items containing gallium, germanium, and antimony to the United States.

The commerce ministry announced the suspension takes effect immediately and will last until November 27, 2026.

China originally imposed the export ban in December 2024.

The ministry also suspended stricter end-user and end-use checks for dual-use graphite exports to the US.

These stricter graphite controls were announced alongside the original gallium and germanium ban.

On Friday, China additionally suspended other export controls imposed on October 9.

Those suspended controls included expanded curbs on certain rare earth materials and lithium battery materials.

The suspensions follow an agreement between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump.

Both leaders agreed to reduce tariffs and pause other trade measures for one year. – Reuters
