France’s finance minister says any US move against Greenland would cross a line, endangering Europe’s economic relationship with Washington.
PARIS: France has warned the United States that any action against Greenland would endanger Europe’s economic relationship with Washington.
Finance Minister Roland Lescure told US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent that seizing Greenland would amount to a “crossed line”, the Financial Times reported.
“Greenland is a sovereign part of a sovereign country that is part of the EU,” Lescure told the newspaper.

He added that the status of the Danish territory “shouldn’t be messed around with”.
When asked if the EU should retaliate with sanctions if the US invaded, Lescure declined to speculate.
“I’m not going there,” he told the FT.
“Obviously, if that happened we would be in a totally new world for sure, and we would have to adapt accordingly.” – Reuters
