Israel warns Sohmor village residents to evacuate ahead of imminent strikes on Hezbollah infrastructure, citing ceasefire violations.
JERUSALEM: The Israeli military has issued an urgent evacuation warning for a village in southern Lebanon.
Residents of Sohmor were told to leave ahead of imminent air strikes on Hezbollah targets.
“The (Israeli military) will attack Hezbollah terrorist military infrastructure in the near future,” said military spokesman Colonel Avichay Adraee.
He said the strikes aim to address prohibited attempts by the group to rebuild its activities.
The warning comes despite a Lebanese military announcement last week.
It said it had completed disarming Hezbollah south of the Litani River, the first phase of a nationwide plan.
Israel has dismissed those efforts as insufficient.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office reiterated that the ceasefire “states clearly, Hezbollah must be fully disarmed”.
Israel has continued regular strikes in Lebanon since a November 2024 ceasefire.
On Sunday, Lebanese media reported a series of violent Israeli strikes on several southern towns.
Areas hit included Jezzine, Mahmudiyeh, Al-Dimasqiyeh and Al-Bureij.
