KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu FC (TFC) skipper Habib Haroon has confirmed that he will be joining a new club for next season’s Malaysia League (M-League) campaign.
Having marshalled the TFC midfield for two seasons, the Bahrain-born player said his decision to move to another club is driven by his desire to pursue broader experience and opportunities in a fresh and dynamic environment.
However, the 23-year-old player is not yet ready to reveal his destination because his contract with the Turtles expires at the end of this month.
“I’m 150 per cent not with the team (TFC). I have a team already but (am) not announcing it now because I still have a contract that will finish at the end of this month.
“It has been an amazing season. I love this team (TFC) so much. I love them and will continue loving them,“ he said when contacted by Bernama.
Habib also admitted that he will miss the Terengganu football fans, whom he considers to be among the best in the country and, as such, he hopes to return to play at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium (SSMZA) here someday because “Terengganu is like my second home”.
“Since the beginning of my career, I have never experienced this kind of love shown by the fans here. Terengganu will always hold a special place in my heart. I will never forget them,“ he said.
Habib began his career with TFC in 2021 and was crucial in leading the Turtles to the FA Cup final in 2022 and the Malaysia Cup final this year. He was also instrumental in TFC qualifying for the AFC Cup this year.–Bernama
