Joining Agassi and Johns are top international players including Anna Bright, Federico Staksrud and Tyson McGuffin, alongside doubles specialist Collin Johns and rising talents from across the circuit.

PETALING JAYA: Tennis legend Andre Agassi will lead a star-studded lineup in Kuala Lumpur next month, headlining a landmark pickleball event that will culminate in a record-setting match atop Merdeka 118.

The two-day showcase, set for April 7 and 8, will feature exhibition matches, community engagement sessions and a festival-style atmosphere, with the headline clash between Team Agassi and Team Ben Johns expected to draw major attention.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of his generation, Agassi will captain his team against Johns, currently the world No.1 in men’s doubles and mixed doubles, who has amassed more than 190 gold medals and holds the record for the most Triple Crown victories in professional pickleball.

The Kuala Lumpur leg will begin with exhibition matches at Stadium Juara in Mont Kiara before shifting to the iconic Merdeka 118 for the headline encounter — set to be the highest pickleball match ever staged in Malaysia.

From 8.30pm onwards on April 7, the public can also expect a large-scale light, drone and pyrotechnic display illuminating the city skyline, turning the event into a spectacle beyond sport.

Joining Agassi and Johns are top international players including Anna Bright, Federico Staksrud and Tyson McGuffin, alongside doubles specialist Collin Johns and rising talents from across the circuit.

The event will also include Andie Dikosavljevic (Australia), Ken Tam (Vietnam), Kenta Miyoshi (Japan) and Aiko Yoshitomi (Japan).

Beyond the main event, April 8 will focus on grassroots development, with players taking part in community outreach programmes across the Klang Valley, including free coaching workshops and meet-and-greet sessions aimed at expanding interest in pickleball.

Tickets for the event start from RM169 and will be available online via Ticket2U.
