Malaysia’s track cycling team won four gold medals at the 2025 SEA Games, doubling their initial target and proving regional supremacy.
THE Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) hailed the national track cycling team’s dominant performance at the 2025 SEA Games as a proud achievement.
MNCF president Datuk Amarjit Singh said the squad exceeded its initial target by winning four gold medals and one silver in Thailand.
Amarjit expressed appreciation to the athletes, coaches, National Sports Council (MSN) and National Sports Institute (ISN) for their strong support.

“I think the track cycling camp has shown its greatness,” he said when met here.
The national team proved its superiority by securing four of the five gold medals contested in track cycling.
Muhammad Ridwan Sahrom delivered gold in the men’s keirin event.
Nur Aisyah Zubir won the women’s scratch race for another gold medal.
The trio of Muhammad Fadhil Mohd Zonis, Mohamad Akmal Nazimi Jusena and Muhammad Ridwan triumphed in the men’s team sprint.
The quartet of Azim Aliyas, Hafiq Jafri, Yusri Shaari and New Joe Lau secured gold in the men’s team pursuit.
Malaysia added a silver medal through Joe Lau in the men’s point race event.
Commenting on the 2027 SEA Games in Malaysia, Amarjit said MNCF would begin initial planning.
He said the focus would be on organising more track cycling events using the country’s velodrome facilities.
MNCF will hold preliminary discussions with the Malaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC) on venues and planning.
“For 2027, of course we will start making preparations,” Amarjit said.
He stated the intention to hold a full programme of track events, unlike the five selected in Bangkok.
Amarjit referenced the successful 2017 edition hosted by Malaysia, where 13 track events were contested.
In that edition, Malaysia led by Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang won 11 gold medals.
“What we see here, if this momentum can be maintained, we can succeed,” he added. – Bernama
