Fireworks set to fly at PKNS Selangor Masters as Asian Development Tour stars take on Malaysia’s best

Golf fans can expect early fireworks ahead of the Lunar New Year as the PKNS Selangor Masters tees off tomorrow at Seri Selangor Golf Club.

The US$175,000 event opens the 2026 Asian Development Tour (ADT) season, featuring a 144-player field from over 30 countries, including leading ADT regulars, PGM Tour players and invitees, all chasing a pathway to the Asian Tour.

Defending champion Tawit Polthai of Thailand returns seeking a repeat at a venue he knows well, having launched his successful 2025 campaign here en route to topping the ADT Order of Merit.

The Ross Watson-designed layout, with its tight fairways and slick greens, is expected to reward patience and precision, with the par-four finishing hole once again set up for a dramatic finale.

Local interest will be high, led by Ervin Chang, who arrives in strong form after a top-five finish in the Philippines, and Edven Ying, fresh off becoming the first Malaysian to win the Thailand Open.

Former champion Shahriffuddin Ariffin, rising talent Khavish Varadan and Seri Selangor ambassadors Marcus Lim, Zia Izzuddeen, Syahiran Syakir and Malcolm Ting add further depth to the Malaysian challenge.

The field also includes former champions Ben Leong and Angelo Que, alongside notable international contenders and promising amateurs such as Japan’s Koshin Nagasaki and Malaysian Aiden Tai John Roberts. Blending international quality with homegrown ambition, the 13th edition of the PKNS Selangor Masters promises four days of high-level competition under the continued backing of title sponsor PKNS.
