MotoGP: Quartararo fastest in FP2 at Sepang

KUALA LUMPUR: France Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP claimed the top spot in the 2023 Malaysia Motorcycle Grand Prix (MotoGP) Free Practice 2 (FP2) at Sepang International Circuit here, today.

Quartararo clocked 1 minute 58.960 seconds (s) to edge teammate Franco Morbidelli who came in second in 1:58.985s while Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Brad Binder had to settle for third with 1:59.232s.

Meanwhile, in the Moto2 Practice 3 (P3) session, Spain’s Fermin Aldeguer of GT Trevisan SpeedUp was the fastest after clocking 2:05.319s followed by Somkiat Chantra from IDEMITSU Honda Team Asia with 2:05.865s while Briton Jake Dixon from GASGAS Aspar Team completed the top three with 2:05.921s.

Two local wildcard riders for the Moto2 class, Azroy Anuar and Helmi Azman representing Petronas MIE Racing RW respectively finished 30th (2:08.766s) and 31st (2:09.815s).

In Moto3 class, Daniel Holgado from Red Bull KTM Tech 3 conquered the P3 in 2:11.139s followed by Deniz Oncu from Red Bull KTM Ajo in second palce (2:11.364s) while Jaume Masia from Leopard Racing emerged third ( 2:11.573s.)

Another local rider, Syarifuddin Azman or better known as Damok from MT Helmets – MSI finished as the second last rider in 27th place (2:14.1990s).–Bernama
