Sivasangari falls to top seed El Hammamy in Hong Kong Open quarterfinals

Malaysia’s S. Sivasangari lost to Egypt’s Hania El Hammamy in the Hong Kong Open squash quarterfinals, ending the nation’s challenge at the tournament

KUALA LUMPUR: National squash star S. Sivasangari’s run at the 2025 Hong Kong Open ended in the quarterfinals.

The Malaysian fell to top seed Hania El Hammamy of Egypt in straight games at the Hong Kong Squash Centre.

The world number two secured her semi-final spot with an 11-4, 11-9, 11-4 victory.

It was Sivasangari’s seventh defeat in nine career meetings against the Egyptian.

The loss also concluded Malaysia’s campaign at the tournament.

Compatriots Aifa Azman and Rachel Arnold were eliminated earlier in the second and first rounds respectively.

Sivasangari is currently ranked sixth in the world, her highest career position to date. – Bernama
