SOMETIMES when we are caught between a rock and a hard place, making the best decision can be really difficult.

Ling recently revealed in a lengthy Facebook post that the incident happened on a Friday, the local weekend, on a deserted road in Langkawi. The driver was reaching speeds of 90 to100 km/h.

“A dog suddenly materialized on the road, and in an instant, I had to make a potentially fatal choice.

He explained, “I could either keep going in his direction or swerve or brake hard, actions that at high speeds could risk my own life.”

Unfortunately, he made the quick decision to strike the dog in “full speed” in order to save his own life.

Following that, out of duty, he returned to the scene, only to discover the animal had vanished.

He wrote, “I hope the dog has moved on and isn’t left to suffer.”

The driver said he would make the same decision again if given a hundred chances and showed no sign of regret for his choice.

He justified his actions by saying he wanted to make sure the dog didn’t suffer if it had to die, and that a swift death was preferable to a potentially agonising one.

Ling added that he regrets nothing significant about his choice, but he is saddened by the fact that the incident was inevitable.

Many other internet users also responded to his post with a variety of sentiments, including “I have accidentally run over a cat myself, I felt very guilty and sad. Writing a long explanation wasn’t what I was in the mood for. I don’t understand why you’re writing this down; do you genuinely believe that what you did was wrong, but you still want everyone to support you in order to justify your actions?

On the other hand, another netizen made the argument that Ling would have been better off signalling and slowing down rather than killing the animal, arguing that there was a greater chance of being rear-ended.
