Malaysia records 26 million foreign visitors in 2023, highest in SEA

AFTER being confined to their homes for the most part of the pandemic, many folks from all over the world are now eager to travel again, and international tourism is almost back to its peak.

This is demonstrated by the fact that there are much more foreign visitors to Southeast Asia this year than there were just a year ago.

In light of this, did you know that, as of right now this year, Malaysia has topped the list of foreign visitors arriving in Southeast Asia?

26 million foreign visitors entered our country between January and November of 2023, according to a recent article by the media site seasia.stats, which visually represents statistics about Southeast Asian countries.

Additionally, Malaysia outpaces Thailand by 1.4 million international tourist arrivals over the same time, according to official information sourced from the tourism ministries of each Southeast Asian nation.

It’s noteworthy that, as we previously disclosed, Malaysians made up more than 3.8 million of the 26.4 million foreign visitors who arrived in Thailand between January and November 2023.

Below is the list of the top 9 international tourist arrivals in Southeast Asia in 2023:

1. Malaysia – 26 million

2. Thailand – 24.6 million

3. Singapore – 11.3 million

4. Vietnam – 11.2 million

5. Indonesia – 9.9 million

6. Philippines – 4.6 million
