AN anonymous man recently expressed his frustration with a senior colleague who declined to return his money in a Facebook post.
According to the post, their senior colleague had opted not to join them for lunch so his co-worker decided to ‘tapau’ lunch for him, and the price of his mixed rice was RM13.
Once he returned to the office, the co-worker handed his senior colleague his lunch but did not immediately request payment for the food.
“I assumed he would take the initiative to return the money himself,“ he stated, adding that he hadn’t asked for the money because he was preoccupied with work.
Two days passed and the senior colleague still had not paid him for the lunch. So, the man gently reminded him to pay under the speculation that his colleague might have forgotten about it.
Instead of giving the money, the senior colleague rudely retorted, “”It was just RM13”.
“Are you that poor? Why not just think of it as a treat?”
Rightfully, the senior colleague’s response did not sit well with the man, who nearly lost his cool.
Luckily, there was another colleague there who noticed that the man felt offended by the senior colleague’s response and tried to intervene and diffuse the situation before it got out of hand.
“Don’t be lame! Even if he had money, why would he treat you this way? You ought to give the RM13 back.”
Thankfully, at the end of the conversation the colleague reluctantly returned his money.
With a playful tone, he concluded his post by stating, “Even if it was only RM1, I considered it too much for you. You know who you are.”
How awkward it must be to be in that circumstance, particularly since he is your senior at work; so much for integrity. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
