(Video) Russian fighter breaks neck in grappling match

IN combat sports like boxing, muay thai or mixed martial arts, it’s extremely common to see bloody injuries.

However, in grappling combat matches where punches and kicks are not thrown - like wrestling and brazilian jiu-jitsu, very rarely do you see very serious injuries.

However in Russia, a video of a grappling match is going viral and it shows a Russian fighter named Payzutdin breaking his neck and screaming in agony.

The Russian attempted a move called an arm-bar, popular in jiu-jitsu, but fell on his head. According to Russian reports, he was diagnosed with “a brain contusion, a closed craniocerebral trauma and a fracture of the cervical vertebrae with damage to the spinal cord.”

It is claimed that the fighter’s arms and legs are now paralysed due to the injury.
