“We rent the roro, we pay for it, then suddenly other people act as they please and dump their rubbish into it — that’s really awful.”
What was meant to be a roll-on roll-off (roro) dumpster for renovation waste quickly turned into a dumping ground for someone else’s household rubbish — and this left a Malaysian man particularly frustrated.
@hafizpuad who works in construction took to Threads to share that he had ordered a roro to dispose of renovation debris.
Unfortunately, there were some who decided to turn the renovation bin into a waste bin and dumped rubbish into it.
“We rent the roro, we pay for it, then suddenly other people act as they please and dump their rubbish into it — that’s really awful.”
To make matters worse, they went to the extent of discarding an entire sofa into the roro dumpster and according to @hafizpuad, the culprits would do it at night.
“Clever enough to dump it at night too — by morning when we reached the site, it was already there.”
Netizens were quick to criticise the irresponsible act, pointing out that such behaviour increases costs for others and reflects a lack of civic responsibility.
“This is usually the behaviour of really terrible people,” said one commenter, adding that it was infuriating when others dumped rubbish into bins that were privately rented and paid for. He also pointed out that such actions showed a clear lack of civic responsibility and often caused problems for garbage collectors.
Another user shared how they took preventive measures to avoid similar incidents, saying they would cover and tightly secure their renovation dumpster with canvas before leaving the site so others would not dare to open it.
