The family of the UTAR intern killed in an air conditioning gas explosion at HELP University has claimed his remains from HKL for funeral arrangements.
KUALA LUMPUR: The family of the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman intern who died in an air conditioning gas explosion at HELP University has claimed his remains for funeral arrangements.
The family arrived at the Forensic Department of Kuala Lumpur Hospital at approximately 2:45 pm before leaving the premises at 3:55 pm.
The Dean of UTAR’s Faculty of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Prof. Chang Yoong Choon, also arrived to meet with the victim’s family.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Chang expressed their gratitude for the media coverage but declined to disclose the funeral location.
“The family does not authorise me to disclose the location of the funeral,” he said when met outside HKL.
He added that university management and the student’s friends would pay their last respects at the funeral.
The explosion occurred at 11:40 am yesterday at HELP University in Bukit Damansara.
One person was killed while nine others were injured, including four students.
Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus identified the deceased as 24-year-old Soo Yu Juan.
The victim was a third-year Mechanical Engineering student scheduled to complete his industrial training this Thursday.
