Ministers urge self-reflection and unity for Muslims on Israk Mikraj

Cabinet ministers call for self-reflection, discipline and unity among Muslims, highlighting prayer’s importance on Israk Mikraj.

KUALA LUMPUR: Cabinet ministers have extended Israk Mikraj greetings, urging Muslims to use the occasion for self-reflection and to reinforce unity.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil emphasised prayer as the pillar of faith and the link between humans and their Creator.

“The event of Israk and Mikraj teaches us that prayer is the pillar of faith and the link between humans and the Creator,” he said in a Facebook post.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the event imparts lessons on patience, faith and absolute obedience to Allah.

He highlighted the ordainment of the five daily prayers as the foundation for character development and spiritual well-being.

The event marks when the five daily prayers were made obligatory for Muslims a year before the Prophet’s migration.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said it should remind Muslims to strengthen faith and nurture good morals.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir said prayer provides spiritual strength that guides actions.

“Prayer not only disciplines the self, but also strengthens human bonds, shapes character, and builds personal integrity,” he said.

He added the occasion should unite hearts and encourage the fulfilment of responsibilities with dedication.
