Spurs boss Thomas Frank says club is aligned from ownership down despite pressure, with focus on Burnley after Champions League win over Dortmund.

LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank insists the club is united and moving in the right direction despite a troubled Premier League campaign.

Frank said support from the club’s hierarchy had been “exceptional throughout the season” as he prepares his team for a crucial match at Burnley.

“I know there’s a few questions about me but it’s not about me,” said the 52-year-old Dane.

“It’s about me, the staff, the players, the club, and that needs to be aligned. And that direction and alignment is very clear from ownership to the board.”

He emphasised that “everyone is on the same page and there’s a lot of things going in the right direction.”

Pressure on Frank eased with a 2-0 Champions League win over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday.

That victory secured a place in the competition’s play-off round after Spurs were already eliminated from both domestic cups.

However, a 2-1 home defeat to West Ham last week left Tottenham 14th in the table and prompted fans to chant “You’re getting sacked in the morning.”

Frank revealed he has lunch with chief executive Vinai Venkatesham three times a week to maintain alignment.

“It’s a good way to talk and get around all the small bits we need to do because we’re also busy with meetings and a busy schedule,” he explained.

On the future of defender Micky van de Ven, linked with Liverpool, Frank said the Dutchman “seems happy” in London.

“He’s a fantastic player and a fantastic ambassador for this club,” said Frank.

“He’s maybe had his best season for the club. He’s growing as a leader and a big player for the future. I would say he is very important player for us.”

Frank concluded that “Micky is a Tottenham player for us now and the future.”
