PM Anwar calls for strict action against foreigners abusing social visit passes

PM Anwar urges strict action against foreign nationals misusing Social Visit Passes for work, with 54,791 cases recorded since 2025

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called for strict enforcement action against foreign nationals who abuse Social Visit Passes or visa relaxation to work in Malaysia.

MADANI Government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the Prime Minister emphasised the matter during the Cabinet meeting today, following reports and the latest briefing on actions and arrests related to the misuse of Social Visit Passes for employment in the country.

“Even though their entry is for social reasons, whether to visit or travel, it turns out that elements of employment have been detected,” he said at his weekly press conference here today.

Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said that at the meeting, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail reported that 54,791 foreign nationals had been subjected to enforcement action in 2025 and until mid-January this year.

He added that of this total, 51,100 individuals were recorded last year, while 3,691 were recorded up to mid-January.
